Base pay range $24.00/hr - $29.00/hr

Tectonic’s Newburgh, NY office is excited to offer a full-time opportunity for a Permitting Specialist to join our team! This role is perfect for individuals eager to grow their careers in the A/E/C industry.

Essential Functions

Prepare, submit, and track permit applications for telecommunications, solar, energy, and civil engineering projects;

Liaise with municipalities, utility companies, and governing bodies to facilitate approvals;

Interpret zoning laws, environmental regulations, building codes, and agency requirements;

Support due diligence and site acquisition teams by identifying permitting risks;

Maintain permitting databases and logs to ensure all documentation is up to date and audit-ready;

Provide updates to internal stakeholders regarding permit timelines, conditions, and delays;

Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to ensure compliance with zoning and permitting requirements;

Attend public hearings, planning board meetings, or site visits when necessary;

All other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in permitting for civil infrastructure, telecom, energy, or solar projects;

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is a plus; HS Diploma/equivalent required;

Detail oriented, with strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills;

Strong understanding of permitting and zoning processes across multiple jurisdictions;

Familiarity with AutoCAD 2024 or newer and Microsoft Office Suite is required;

Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with GIS tools, AutoCAD, and permitting software is a plus;

Must be able to travel and to perform site visits or attend meetings/hearings as needed;

Requires a valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle.

Physical Requirements While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is often required to assume a stationary position, and regularly perform tasks that require the handling, inspection, and/or feeling of documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Occasionally, the employee will need to move around on the job-site, sometimes while lifting and/or moving equipment up to 10 lbs and/or in hazardous weather conditions. The employee must be able to safely operate a motor-vehicle, in which they may be required to remain stationary for a prolonged period of time. They must be able to receive and convey detailed or important information with others using the Corporate e-mail system, telephone system, and conferencing systems. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job.
