Technical Writer - Tech Manual Maintenance

The Technical Writer will organize, plan, and develop technical documentation related to logistic engineering, maintenance, and validation/verification activities for Military Programs. The role involves interfacing with clients on Technical Manuals (TM) and Logistic Engineering issues under the guidance of the Technical Writing Project Lead.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

Develop technical writing procedures supporting the program to meet schedule and quality standards. Follow established plans to achieve overall program objectives as defined by the project lead. Understand MIL-STD and quality requirements to produce compliant technical manual procedures. Prepare and submit art requests and technical manual procedures timely to meet internal deadlines. Perform validation and verification of mechanical and diagnostic processes on equipment per established procedures and schedules. Develop technical manual procedures in accordance with contractual and military standards. Meet program and quality objectives for technical data products consistently. Adhere to technical writing development processes. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Possess an accredited bachelor’s degree or have at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Technical Writing and Logistic Engineering. Strong communication, leadership, technical writing, and logistic engineering skills are essential. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. Mechanical ability in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance and diagnostics. Support projects with minimal supervision. Multitasking and prioritization skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, FrameMaker, ArborText, and SGML/XML. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective collaboration at all organizational levels. Strong interpersonal skills; capable of working independently and effectively with all levels. Ability to pass U.S. Government Background Screening for security clearance. Dependable attendance. Physical ability to climb, bend, and access all areas of Heavy Construction and Military Land Vehicles; maintain 3 points of contact while climbing. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unaided and up to 75 lbs. with assistance. Work safely in environments involving crane, forklift, and heavy equipment operation. Operate power tools, hydraulic and manual jacks, and other vehicle repair equipment. Willingness to travel up to 25%.
