Solidworks/NX Designer Compa Industries is looking for a qualified candidate to work at

Salary:

$40/hr - $46/hr

Work Schedule:

8‑hour shift, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Mandatory Experience Requirement – Read Before Applying:

Minimum 5 years of experience as a mechanical designer.

Familiarity with ASME Y14.5‑M‑1994 (or newer) GD&T standards.

Onsite work at Fermilab required; limited remote work possible.

Impact This role directly supports the Design/Drafting Group within the Applied Physics & Superconducting Technology Division (APS‑TD) at Fermilab. Designers will contribute to the success of major national projects like DUNE, shaping critical research infrastructure in particle physics.

Responsibilities And Duties

Prepare mechanical designs and drawings using NX1980 and Teamcenter following Fermilab and APS‑TD procedures.

Apply ASME Y14.5‑M‑1994 (or newer) standards for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Develop 3‑D models, 2‑D drawings, layout designs, and tolerance/stack‑up calculations.

Collaborate with engineering staff to evaluate design solutions, coordinate development, and select appropriate materials and components.

Deliver models and drawings managed through Solidworks/Windchill or NX/Teamcenter, as directed by Fermilab.

Ensure all work meets project schedules, quality assurance requirements, and procedural standards.

Minimum Qualifications

U.S. citizenship.

5+ years of experience as a mechanical designer.

Proficiency in Solidworks and NX1980.

Experience using Teamcenter and Windchill for design management.

Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards.

Able to work onsite at Fermilab and participate in remote interviews via Zoom.

Desired Skills

Familiarity with Fermilab’s QAM and Design/Drafting Procedures.

Experience supporting national laboratory projects.

Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design or Engineering Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of professional design experience using NX and Solidworks.
