Part Time Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Location: Hybrid role in Lawrenceburg, IN
Reports To: Executive Director & Director of Resource Development
FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Hours: 15–25 hours per week
Compensation: $17+/hour, commensurate with experience

The Archaeological Research Institute (ARI) is looking for a part‑time employee who will be the engine behind ARI’s digital and print outreach — creating and scheduling content for social media, our website, newsletters, and press. You’ll help make sure our stories are told clearly, consistently, and creatively, while working side‑by‑side with our design partners to bring big ideas to life. If you love organizing projects, elevating a brand, and making sure the right message reaches the right people at the right time, you’ll thrive in this role. At ARI, your work helps inspire curiosity, engage the community, and support our mission of making archaeology accessible for all.
2 on‑site days: Tuesdays for team meetings and project coordination + one additional day each week on a public‑facing day (Wednesday or Saturday) to capture photos, videos, and stories at programs and events.
Flexible/remote hours for the rest of the week based on projects and deadlines.
Occasional evenings/weekends for events and media needs.
Key Responsibilities Digital Communications
Manage ARI’s social media calendar across all platforms — draft content, schedule posts, track engagement, and respond to messages.
Maintain a shared content calendar aligned with programs, outreach, and fundraising needs.
Create Facebook events for public programs.
Draft and send email newsletters, member updates, and announcements.
Update ARI’s website and online calendar; collaborate with our design partners on design/technical needs.
Coordinate blog posts and research spotlights, ensuring consistency with ARI’s brand and voice.
Design & Content Support
Create and support design for brochures, flyers, signage, invitations, and event materials.
Partner with our design partners and print vendors on design and production.
Maintain brand consistency across all materials.
Capture, organize, and manage ARI’s photo/video library.
Gather testimonials, stories, and visitor highlights for marketing and fundraising.
Media & Public Relations
Draft press releases and submit events to media outlets and community calendars.
Maintain media contact lists and assist with coordinating interviews.
Track and archive media coverage.
Membership & Visitor Engagement
Support member communications and engagement efforts.
Help create welcome packets, quarterly mailings, and benefit fulfillment.
Add new contacts to Mailchimp and Bloomerang and support communication touchpoints.
Reporting & Evaluation
Track and report key marketing metrics (social, web, email) for monthly and board reports.
Contribute data to organization‑wide dashboards.
Maintain organized archives of marketing materials and branded assets.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, or related field.
1–3 years’ experience in marketing/communications (nonprofit preferred).
Strong writing and storytelling skills.
Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, WordPress, and social platforms.
Familiarity with analytics tools (Meta Insights, Google Analytics).
Excellent organizational and project‑management skills.
Interest in archaeology, education, history, or cultural heritage is a bonus.
