The

Patient Eligibility and Authorizations Supervisor , also known as the Care Readiness Supervisor, is responsible for leading and managing the daily operations of the insurance verification and authorizations team. This role ensures accurate and timely verification of patient insurance eligibility and benefits, and the successful acquisition of pre-authorizations for ABA services. The Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence, driving team performance, and maintaining compliance with payer-specific guidelines and Behavioral Innovations’ internal standards. The Supervisor collaborates with internal departments, including Intake, Clinical Services, Billing, and Regional Leadership—as well as external insurance payors to address complex or escalated issues. This position requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of insurance authorization workflows, and a commitment to continuous improvement and patient-centered service.

Responsibilities:

Drive Operational Excellence:

Ensure insurance verification and authorization processes are completed accurately and consistently according to payor guidelines and internal policies. Monitor workflows to minimize errors and maintain high compliance.

Monitor Team Performance:

Oversee productivity, turnaround times, and quality to meet or exceed KPIs. Provide performance dashboards and actionable insights to leadership.

Staff Development & Accountability:

Coach, mentor, and provide ongoing training to team members. Conduct regular check‑ins and annual performance reviews to support continuous improvement.

Team Oversight:

Manage day‑to‑day activities, staffing, task delegation, and workload distribution to ensure efficient operations.

Issue Resolution:

Handle or elevate complex issues related to insurance denials, eligibility discrepancies, and authorization delays.

Process Improvement:

Collaborate with leadership to optimize workflows, implement best practices, and enhance efficiency and outcomes.

Reporting & Compliance:

Track team metrics and trends, maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of payer policies and regulatory requirements, and communicate changes promptly.

Culture & Collaboration:

Foster a positive, accountable, and inclusive team environment. Represent the department in cross‑functional meetings and initiatives as needed.

What We Are Looking For :

Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in healthcare insurance verification, authorizations, or revenue cycle operations.

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.

5+ years of relevant experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.

Strong working knowledge of commercial and government payor requirements, including Medicaid and managed care organizations.

Proficiency with EMR systems, CRM platforms, billing software, and payer portals.

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams.

Exceptional problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills.

The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

Must maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.

Strong customer service orientation and commitment to delivering timely and accurate work.

Ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence positive changes.
