Job Summary The Audio/Video Producer is the key audio personnel for all studio productions. Assists in all aspects of production as assigned by production management.
Typical Duties
Oversees the audio requirements of selected field, contract, and studio projects.
Key audio engineer for all studio and/or field productions.
Ensures all audio is up to broadcast quality standards.
Troubleshoots and resolves audio challenges with a sense of urgency.
Assists with all show tapings.
Edit/produce audio/visual elements for broadcast and digital.
Assists with program promotion both online and off the air.
Oversees studio audio set-ups including microphones on guests and room levels.
Assists with video post-production.
Other Duties
May supervise student workers, interns, or OPS staff as assigned.
Participates in on-air fundraising campaigns.
Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications – Level I
At least six years of directly related full‑time experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field plus two years of full‑time experience.
Professional, full‑time broadcasting news experience.
Experience with audio digital editing.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Required Qualifications – Level II
At least eight years of directly related full‑time experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field plus four years of full‑time experience.
Professional full‑time experience in audio/television broadcasting.
Experience with producing and editing video.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Skilled in operating an audio board for studio and/or live broadcasts.
Skilled in current digital audio editing and Adobe software applications.
Knowledge of public broadcasting industry; awareness of new techniques and practices.
Knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.
Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and environments.
Ability to assist live, multi‑camera studio productions.
Ability to use microphones, portable recording devices, and video studio production equipment.
Ability to diffuse and respond professionally to stressful situations and difficult people.
Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills.
