Position Overview Samson Electric, Inc. is seeking a qualified Journeyman Electrician in Anchorage, Alaska and/or Fairbanks, Alaska with hands‑on experience in commercial and industrial electrical work. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the current NEC codebook, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, and the National Electrical Safety Code. Candidates should be familiar with construction standards and methodologies, particularly in new commercial/industrial builds and commercial tenant improvements (T.I.s). Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, installation manuals, wiring schematics, and sketches, and perform layout work accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and low-voltage systems including: Power distribution, lighting, motor control, fire alarm, data, telecom, and security system.
Mentor and train apprentice electricians
Follow all safety procedures and set a positive example on the job site
Operate equipment such as excavators, trenchers, boom trucks, bucket trucks (preferred) and pipe threaders and conduit benders (manual and powered)
Perform accurate mathematical calculations and apply NEC tables correctly
Maintain flexibility and dependability while delivering high-quality workmanship
Travel to remote locations may be required, including swing, weekend, or night shifts
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a US citizen or possess valid legal work authorization
Must pass pre-employment Drug and Alcohol screening
Must have a satisfactory criminal background report
Must hold a valid State of Alaska (SOA) Fitness Card
Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), if required for the position
Strongly Preferred
Valid Alaska Class D or higher driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and a clean driving record
Current electrician license in the State of Alaska or reciprocal state
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or college coursework is a plus
Ability to pass a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) physical for a medical card and/or respirator physical, if applicable
Completion of a certified, federally registered apprenticeship program is a plus
