Position Overview
We are adding several mid to senior level designers to our Kiewit Engineering team to support a variety of engineering and construction projects within the Industrial market. Designers with 5–15 years of experience in REVIT, clash detection, 3D modeling and Navisworks are sought. The role involves working with subject‑matter experts across the full spectrum of designs from conceptual (pre‑FEED) to detailed design for design/build and EPC projects for Industrial facilities across North America. Projects include Data Centers, Water and Wastewater treatment, and Campus/Utilities/Industrial Energy (small‑scale Power). Senior designers will mentor and lead others, while individual contributors will take ownership of design deliverables.
Responsibilities Performs 3D designs of concrete, structural steel, modular steel, stick‑built, precast elements, foundations, pipe racks, tanks, platforms, buildings, connections, stairs, and other structures for Industrial facilities using REVIT and Navisworks for clash detection.
Collaborates with project teams to develop designs and construction documents, applying BIM practices and applications.
Develops and manages project information while ensuring compliance with development information and information management standards and policies.
Maintains project design documentation throughout all phases of design and construction.
Ensures that project details and specifications are coordinated and communicated to the construction team through an integrated design process.
Works with project managers, engineers, and other designers to aid in project completion within schedule, budget and quality constraints.
Works closely with the BIM team and stakeholders to meet project objectives.
Develops and checks design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
Navigates 3D models to check for interferences and constructability.
Supports the construction team, including representing the design team on‑site, answering RFIs, and providing creative design solutions.
Qualifications Associate’s degree or completion of a vocational training program in Computer Aided Design and 5+ years of professional experience in Revit; or high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 8 years of structural design experience using Revit.
Experience designing both concrete and steel structures, including foundations, platforms, buildings, piping, tanks, precast elements, staircases, and modular steel.
Minimum of 3+ years professional experience in Navisworks and Autodesk Docs.
Proficient in Autodesk and Microsoft products.
Ability to read and understand construction documents and submittals.
Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit and Navisworks.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex BIM projects.
Ability to understand and implement detailed project specifications and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Experience designing foundations, platforms, pipe racks, tanks, and related structures used in industrial, water, or manufacturing facilities.
Working Conditions Regular, reliable attendance.
Productive work and timely meeting of deadlines.
Effective professional communication with supervisors, employees, and other team members.
Work performed safely following oral and written instructions, warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete tasks within given deadlines; overtime and weekends may be required.
May work at various locations with varying conditions.
Location
Positions can be located at our Kiewit offices in Lone Tree, Colorado; Lenexa, Kansas; Bloomington, Minnesota; or Houston, Texas. Relocation assistance is available to Lenexa, Kansas only.
Compensation
Base pay range: $88,000 – $92,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skillset, and/or location.
