Job Title: Mechanical Designer
We are seeking a proficient Mechanical Designer to join our new product development team. The ideal candidate will understand product requirements and develop innovative solutions, create detailed part drawings and solid models, and support design and drawing reviews. This role involves working closely with suppliers to produce parts and prototypes, as well as testing designs and solving technical problems.
Responsibilities
Understand product requirements and develop solutions.
Create part drawings, solid models, and bills of material.
Support design reviews and drawing reviews.
Collaborate with suppliers to produce parts.
Prototype and test designs.
Solve technical problems and maintain subassemblies.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
Create accurate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Product and Change Notifications (PACNs).
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks.
Experience in mechanical design, engineering change orders, and new product development.
Experience with sheet metal, machine part design, and injection mold design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with injection-molded, plastic-part design.
Experience with sheet metal and machined part design.
3D printing experience.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on skills.
Detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven, self‑directed, and organized individual.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to excel in a highly interactive team environment.
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
Work Environment This position is onsite and is best suited for a candidate who enjoys leaving their desk to engage in hands‑on problem‑solving on the manufacturing floor. You will work within a collaborative team of eight in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Job Type & Location Contract position based out of Shakopee, MN.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
