Apply now Job no: 498437 Work type: Staff Full‑Time Location: Denver, CO Categories: Information Technology Division: Information Technology Position Summary Reporting to the Manager Digital Media Services, this position is responsible for delivering audio visual technology support for University events, conferencing events, and special events, along with support for video conferencing services. This position also works on video projects as needed, which may require recording of live events, and reformatting and encoding a variety of video sources to make available for streaming or archival purposes. The work schedule is 37.5 hours per week and includes some nights and weekends. The position participates within the Digital Media Services team environment, possesses an understanding of established procedures, and has the ability to apply skills and knowledge in multiple functions. Essential Functions Events Support Set up, test and operate A/V equipment in accordance with the acoustics of the room and select, place, and adjust microphones for University events. Mixing, regulating, coordinating of sound inputs. Perform proper recording techniques to ensure quality recordings. Instruct faculty, staff and students in the operations of A/V equipment including LCD projectors, document cameras, DVD/Blu‑Ray players, Flat Screen Monitors, mixers, microphones, laptops, and computers. Operate controls to maintain correct sound levels for events. Provide information to principal users regarding policies and procedures for all media services. Perform video conferencing and teleconferencing services. Classroom Support Provide customer service and technical assistance to patrons using University classroom equipment over the phone and on‑site. Perform basic repairs and log problems in ticketing system. Provides backup support for all units within the University Multimedia Services department. Conversion Services Provide support for Digital Conversion Services. Perform proper recording techniques to ensure quality recordings. Schedule telephone, walk‑ins, fax, and e‑mail requests for media support and conversion services. Develop and maintain an inventory of conversion equipment, software, and materials. Create and update written processes for video encoding. Performs on‑site camera operation for university events, workshops, classroom capture, student recitals, and special initiatives with University Communications. Meetings Occasionally lead team meetings with Digital Media Technicians 1 and Student Technicians. Meetings will cover event scheduling, training, and planning for support. Equipment Maintenance Maintain equipment on a routine basis. Perform periodic inventories as needed. Maintains an inventory of event equipment, software, and materials. Maintains an aging schedule for equipment rotation. Team Member/Other Duties as Assigned Participates as a member of the departments team structure and performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with diplomacy, tact, and judgment, both in person and on the telephone. Basic math skills. Experience with Excel preferred. Must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, organize work, set priorities and develop possible solutions for problems. Ability to prioritize work requests and be able to concentrate and not be distracted while performing tasks. Good organizational skills, punctuality, and dependability. Must be able to interact with all members of the University community. Must be able to perform well under pressure and be able to change behavior in relation to others actions. Required Qualifications High school diploma Prior experience working with audio visual, video, and computer equipment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in digital media and/or technology preferred. 1‑3 years of experience with audio visual, video, and computer equipment preferable in a college or university environment. The work environment is a university with cyclical periods of increased workloads with the possibility of moderate to high stress levels. The department is highly automated with attention paid to ergonomics and safety. The unit is one of several working collaboratively and cooperatively in a team‑based organization. The position may require working irregular hours including both weekends and evenings. The work environment consists of surroundings with moderate noise levels and frequent contact with electrical devices. Physical Activities Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time. Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; teach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl under desk/tables to troubleshoot cables and network connections; talk or hear; walk‑up flights of stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Salary Grade Number The salary grade for the position is 7. Hourly Range The hourly range for the position is $24.53 - $28.62. The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
