Client: Arizona Department of Education (AZED) - Information Technology Division

Location: 100 N. 15th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85007

Duration: 7 Months (Projected Start: 12/15/2026)

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Work Type: Hybrid (First 2 weeks onsite, then 2-3 days per week in office)

Position Overview

The Senior UX/UI Designer will create intuitive, visually engaging, and user-centered interfaces for state web applications. This role combines design excellence, user empathy, and analytical thinking to deliver exceptional user experiences. You'll collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners in an Agile/Scrum environment to design and implement accessible, responsive, and visually consistent digital products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design professional, visually appealing, and functional user interfaces for web applications.
• Collaborate with BI developers to design effective and visually engaging dashboards.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and refine designs based on feedback.
• Ensure compliance with WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards.
• Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and reusable components.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into intuitive designs.
• Communicate design concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide mentorship on design best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in UX/UI design for web or digital products.
• Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered and accessible design work.
• Proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Photoshop, and similar tools.
• Experience with user research, usability testing, and data-driven design iterations.
• Familiarity with WCAG / Section 508 accessibility and related testing tools.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience conducting user research and usability studies.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing tools and methodologies.
• Ability to translate design into front-end code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Familiarity with ASP.NET MVC, Razor, or Blazor development environments.

Compensation: $55.00 per hour
