JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Technical Writer will support Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) editing and creating Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using PTC Arbortext to MIL-STD-3001 specification.
JOB DUTIES:
Author, edit, and develop IETMs for NAVAIR equipment, to cover maintenance, operation, repair, theory of operation, troubleshooting, and Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB) in accordance with MIL-STD-3001 requirements.
Author, prepare, review, revise, and develop IETMs for NAVAIR equipment from source data such as Logistics Product Data, Engineering Drawings, and Maintenance Plans for equipment operation and maintenance.
Create and update NAVAIR MIL-STD-3001 XML documentation with complete understanding of XML tags and how to apply to text.
Coordinate content creation across multiple documents continuously with competing deadlines.
Perform quality reviews and peer reviews across technical and non-technical documents.
Evaluate document quality based on accuracy, substance, and quality of written content.
Create narrative content using Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews to author and validate with technical system engineers, architects, and other SMEs.
Create agendas, meeting minutes, initial technical publication outlines, and incrementally create, validate, update, and review document content.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years or more related experience; will 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Candidate must be a US Citizen.
Team-oriented, self-starter, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office products and desktop publishing software.
Previous experience creating and editing NAVAIR IETMs.
Proficient in use of PTC Arbortext or similar XML authoring software.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
Recent knowledge of and experience with Naval Air Technical Data and Engineering Service Center (NATEC) documentation standards and procedures.
Current knowledge of and experience with Naval & Marine Corps aircraft systems.
Experience developing Logistics Support Analysis Records (LSARs) for Acquisition Logistics.
