Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Research and Write Articles:
- Develop Chapman centric story ideas and pitches on a regular basis.
- Ensure all content is accurate, unbiased, and well-researched.
- Conduct Interviews:
- Identify and interview relevant sources to gather information and quotes for articles.
- Build relationships with key contacts and sources within the community.
- Work with Section Editors:
- Collaborate with section editors to refine story ideas and angles.
- Revise and edit articles based on feedback from editors.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Meet Publication Deadlines:
- Ensure all assignments are completed by deadlines.
- Handle multiple stories and pitches.
- Cover Events and News:
- Attend and report on campus events, meetings, and other newsworthy activities.
- Write articles.
- 1 story per week unless otherwise communicated.
- Provide live coverage or updates for breaking news stories when required.
- Background in journalism.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and uphold ethical reporting standards.
- Prior experience with The Panther or a comparable publication.
