Job Summary

The Design Trainee will get hands‑on experience designing roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels. The position requires interaction with vendors, customers, and field staff. The Design Trainee reports to the Design Manager.

Responsibilities

• Ability to learn MiTek design software.
• Assist with wall panel layouts per architectural and structural plans and specifications.
• Assist with pricing/estimating data.
• Check floor/roof truss layouts and wall panel layouts for consistency.
• Assist with engineered wood products and hanger lists.
• Review layouts and shipping files for accuracy.
• Coordinate job set‑up and data entry.
• Assist wall panel and truss designers with editing tasks.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

• General construction, framing experience, or truss/panel production experience is preferred but not necessary.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
• Working knowledge of framing, blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents is preferred but not necessary.
• Professionally communicate and interact with co‑workers.

Physical Requirements

• Extended periods of time working on a computer.
• Lift up to 15 pounds.
