We’re partnered with a pioneering space technology company developing next-generation Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payloads for advanced Earth observation. They’re seeking an experienced RF Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and optimization of RF systems that power cutting-edge radar technologies. In this position, you’ll work cross-functionally with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges and advance mission‑critical systems. You’ll also provide analytical insight, technical guidance, and engineering leadership across a range of projects and new technology initiatives. Location: Onsite in Irvine, CA or Washington, DC.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and optimize RF systems for SAR payloads to meet mission and performance goals
- Lead complex designs involving high‑speed digitizers, low‑noise RF circuits, FPGAs, and embedded processors
- Collaborate closely with systems and payload engineers to test and validate SAR payloads and data collection performance
- Conduct detailed RF and microwave analysis for antennas and antenna arrays
- Develop RF subsystem requirements and translate them into actionable engineering specifications
- Perform simulations and analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
- Generate technical documentation and communicate findings effectively across teams
- Support business development activities by contributing technical input to RFIs and RFPs
Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in RF or electrical engineering roles
- 4+ years of experience in spacecraft systems, payload design, or related areas
- Strong background in high‑speed electronics, RF design, and phased antenna array testing
- Expertise in electromagnetics, RF theory, and antenna design principles
- Experience in RF test automation and data analysis
- Familiarity with SAR imaging concepts and system‑level design
- Mastery of signal processing fundamentals, including complex‑valued data manipulation
- Must be a US Citizen with an active or attainable TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Experience
- Hands‑on experience with SAR payload design, integration, and testing
- Background in space‑based or airborne payload development
- Proficiency in embedded programming (C/C++) and FPGA design tools (Verilog/VHDL)
