Middlemore
Global Head of Talent Management Strategy & Solution Design
Middlemore, New York, New York, United States
Global Head of Talent Management Strategy & Solution Design
Role: Global Head of Talent Management Strategy & Solution Design
Location: USA - East Coast Base (hybrid working)
Middlemore are retained by a global, Fortune 500 organisation who are seeking a newly defined senior leadership level position in their global Talent Function. This position will report to the SVP of Talent also based in the US.
The Global Head of Talent Management Strategy & Solution Design will architect and modernise the global enterprise talent ecosystem. This role is not a traditional Talent or L&D position — it is a senior, product-driven, organisational effectiveness and HR technology (Workday) role focused on building the future of talent, skills, and workforce capability across a complex multinational.
This leader will play a pivotal role in shaping how the organisation designs performance management, builds future skills, and uses data, AI and Workday-driven intelligence to enable enterprise-wide capability and performance.
The Role This role will act as the strategic architect for global talent and skills. The remit centres on solving talent and workforce challenges that most organisations have not yet recognised.
You will define what the talent engine must do, why it matters, and how the experience should work — partnering closely with Technology, People Analytics, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Org Effectiveness and HR Business Partners.
Key areas of ownership include
Modernising performance management philosophy, including AI-enabled performance insights
Designing global career architecture and pathways
Building skills frameworks, assessments and intelligence, powered by Techwolf
Designing feedback, development and manager-enablement experiences
Integrating talent processes across TA, Rewards, OE and Analytics
Enabling workforce planning and future skills readiness
Driving the roadmap for talent products, data flows and user experience across Workday and adjacent systems
This role builds the “plumbing” of talent — the systems, workflows and data connections that make modern talent experiences possible.
Immediate Mandate (12–24 Months)
Deliver a global talent product roadmap
Modernise major products (performance, skills, career, talent planning)
Stand up and operationalise the Techwolf partnership
Build infrastructure for skills intelligence and workforce planning
Improve adoption by simplifying manager and employee experiences
Apply analytics to measure impact and drive continuous improvement
Establish strong governance and prioritisation discipline
Act as a strategic storyteller who uses data to influence senior leaders
Who Will Succeed in This Role This position requires a leader operating at the intersection of Talent, HR Technology, Org Effectiveness and Workforce Analytics — not a generalist HR, HRBP or L&D background.
Global Talent Management leaders who have modernised performance, engagement, skills or career frameworks through AI, technology and analytics. You'll also need deep experience in shaping talent products and optimising HR tech (ideally Workday) for capability development
Organisational Development / Organization Effectiveness leaders who connect OD, workforce planning, future skills and data-driven talent decisions
Talent or OE professionals with experience using vendors such as Workday, Techwolf, Gloat, Eightfold, or similar platforms
Required expertise
Talent product design, lifecycle management and continuous improvement
HR Tech integration (partnering with Workday configuration teams; not hands‑on config)
AI and skills‑intelligence fluency
Human‑centred design
Analytics fluency and KPI development
Org design and workforce planning adjacency
Change leadership and adoption management
Key leadership qualities
Strategic clarity and structured thinking
Ability to simplify complexity
Enterprise storytelling and influence
Effective cross‑functional collaboration
Pace, ambition and comfort with ambiguity
Confidence in making trade‑offs and prioritising effectively
Location Requirements
East Coast required
Atlanta would be an ideal base location and will be a strong preference
Why This Role Matters This is a unique opportunity to build a next‑generation talent and skills ecosystem for a global enterprise, shaping how tens of thousands of employees grow, perform and prepare for the future of work. If you're a proven global leader in Talent Management, Organization Effectiveness or Performance Management who excels in complex problem‑solving, systems thinking and data‑driven design, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
