Social Media and Content Manager

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Communications, the Social Media and Content Manager is a hybrid role responsible for developing, managing, and distributing engaging content across YMCA of Metro Atlanta’s platforms.
Essential Functions
Own the day-to-day management of the Y’s organic social media calendar across all platforms, including scheduling, publishing, and community management.
Travel to branch and early learning sites.
Plan and oversee production of content that aligns with brand voice, values, and strategic initiatives. Formats include social posts, videos, graphics, website content, and intranet content.
Work closely with the creative team (designers, video, and photo) to develop compelling content that supports internal initiatives and external marketing campaigns.
Work with senior leaders to integrate content into their professional networks and channels.
Repurpose content across platforms (e.g., video to reels) to maximize reach and engagement.
Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging across paid and organic campaigns, tying into broader organizational goals and key initiatives.
Actively monitor social channels to respond to inquiries, elevate issues when needed, and maintain a strong, positive online presence for the Y.
Track and report key performance metrics and strategic recommendations to leadership. Use data to inform and guide future content development.
Provide guidance and training to internal partners and branch-level staff on content best practices and social media brand standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field and 3+ years of experience in content marketing, storytelling, and social media management, agency experience OR high school diploma and 5+ years in social media and content experience.
Strong storytelling skills with demonstrated experience writing for multiple platforms and audiences.
Experience working cross-functionally with creative and marketing teams, as well as freelance and contract vendors.
Proficiency in social media tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite), analytics platforms, and content management systems.
Familiarity with SEO, content repurpose strategies, and digital trends.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and manage multiple projects/programs of work.
Passion for the YMCA’s mission and the ability to translate complex community impact into compelling stories.
Must have reliable transportation to travel to branch and early learning sites.
Must pass background, BFTS, and motor vehicle record check.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
5+ years of experience in content marketing, storytelling, and social media management, agency experience.
Non-profit experience.
Work Environment & Expectations Hybrid work schedule with in-person meetings and occasional travel to YMCA branches for content collection and storytelling. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support key initiatives or capture timely content.
