Role and Responsibilities The Mechanical Designer at Kratos will be responsible for the production and maintenance of 3D CAD models and associated 2D drawings for electrical power products built at Kratos. Tasks include the creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials, 3D modeling, and part drawing creation for the review of other designers’ work and for following Kratos standard part and assembly revision practice. Most tasks are done via CAD software throughout the life cycle of each project. Specification of quality flow‑down requirements, project documentation, and creation of production‑required assets. The Designer must work with a broad range of people to efficiently incorporate redlines into as‑built drawings and make on‑floor corrections to active projects. Establish rapport with clients, vendors, and co‑workers throughout all levels of the company. Communication is key to this role’s success. Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or higher degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or associate degree with 2+ years relevant past work experience.
Work experience tradeable for education
Experience in 3D CAD programs.
Designing sheet metal parts and copper bus (preferred Autodesk Inventor, but SolidWorks or equivalent will be considered)
Experience generating manufacturing prints from 3D CAD models.
Ability to read and understand different project requirements/codes and apply to the design of equipment.
Preferred Skills
Experience in Switchboard/gear design
Metal‑clad, Switchgear design
UL 891 knowledge
Thrive in a fast‑paced environment with multiple projects to balance.
ERP experience a plus
Experience in manufacturing environment
ISO 9001 and Lean Six Sigma
