Mid Campus Center is looking to hire a PRN Prior Authorization Rep for their Ambulatory Services.
Additional Preferred Requirements
Day time PRN shift
Working hours 8-5 with flexibility on start time
Cover PTO and FMLA, and fill in when needed
Preferred prior authorization experience, EPIC, and insurance experience

Overview This role is critical in the financial clearance process which assists BJC hospitals enterprise-wide in securing the appropriate authorization and/or Notice of Admission (NOA) to prevent rescheduling or revenue loss. The position obtains authorization on behalf of physicians at Washington U School of Medicine and BJC Medical Group, maintains positive relationships, and ensures technology supports accurate scripting and validation of authorization and NOA. The representative provides exceptional customer service, compassion, and operates in line with BJC’s mission, vision, values, and service standards.
Responsibilities Requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Key components include validation of patient information, scheduled test/surgery information, and insurance information. Ensure authorization details in the patient’s medical record are accurate, research and resolve mismatches, and follow departmental data capture processes. Communicate professionally with provider offices, insurance companies, and patients (phone calls for rescheduling). Promote teamwork, contribute to employee engagement, and pursue self-development. The role supports Ancillary Authorization, Surgery Authorization, or NOA processes within the BJC Pre‑Arrival Team, and may review medical records for direct payer requests. This safety‑sensitive position requires constant alertness and safe work practices.
Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 2‑5 years in a related role
Preferred Requirements
Education: Associate’s Degree
Experience: 5‑10 years in prior authorization or related field
Licenses & Certifications: CHAA
