Job Title: Interior Designer
This Interior Designer will lead the interior design process for diverse projects including multi‑family buildings, apartments, credit unions, restaurants, clinics, and other commercial buildings. The role involves both design and business development with clients, working closely with architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and construction teams. The position requires a blend of independent and collaborative work, focusing on concept design creation, field verification, design development, design documents, and consultant coordination.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and communicate with clients on project goals and requirements.
Sketch preliminary design plans and layouts.
Create 3D visualizations using design software programs.
Specify materials and furnishings such as lighting, furniture, wall finishes, flooring, and plumbing fixtures.
Create timelines for interior design projects.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in interior design.
Experience with Revit and construction documents.
Ability to create floor plans.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience in interior design or an Associate's Degree.
Familiarity with design plans, blueprints, building codes, and regulations.
Experience with multi‑family, apartment, restaurant, clinic, or other commercial projects is a plus.
Work Environment The work environment consists of an office with 8 team members. The team primarily works in the office, but there is potential for a hybrid schedule if needed. The flex time schedule allows for work between 6am to 6pm, around 40 hours within these times. This is a great opportunity to start and advance a career in interior design, gaining direct experience with a local firm.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Portage, MI.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.63 - $36.06/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
