As a Substation Physical Project Designer, you will be working in a project team environment with engineers and other designers involved in high and extra high voltage substation design.
Responsibilities
Preparation and detailed review of substation drawings: General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Section Views (Elevations), Bill of Material, Lightning Stroke Shielding Plan, Grounding Plan, Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details, Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan, Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section.
Perform technical review of vendor design deliverables, coordinate incorporation, consolidate and resolve comments.
Lead field walkdowns, gather data at client facilities, interface with clients and contractors.
Identify applicable codes and standards, provide guidance, participate in quality system.
Provide guidance and mentoring to designers, drafters, and other stakeholders; supervise design deliverables; provide technical guidance on calculations.
Develop cost-effective design approaches; interface with disciplines to obtain inputs; implement work plan requirements within budget and schedule.
Delegate and monitor work of assigned staff; provide performance feedback; oversee routine performance and personnel issues.
Qualifications
Minimum 12 years of substation physical design experience.
Assoc. Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
Advanced knowledge of drafting tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
Ability to visualize equipment details, phase to ground and phase to phase clearances, multi-task, visualize parts in 3D without computer.
Bilingual in Spanish and English (speak, read, write).
Valued Knowledge/Skills
Familiarity with Bentley Substation, Inventor SDS, BlueBeam.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Practical application of engineering science and technology.
