Team Overview

As the Sr. Director of Creative Services, you are a vital part of the Communications & Brand team. In this role, you serve as both the visionary and operational leader responsible for shaping and executing the creative strategy for the ministry while ensuring day-to-day excellence in delivery. You translate big-picture brand and organizational goals into compelling visual storytelling, campaigns, and experiences that advance ADF's mission and engage audiences across all channels.

You lead and inspire a multidisciplinary creative team-including designers, videographers, photographers, copywriters, and project managers-fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. You ensure that all creative work aligns with ADF's brand standards, voice, and values, and that it is delivered efficiently, on time, on brand, and on message.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Strategy & Vision:

  • Develop and lead the overarching creative strategy that supports organizational objectives, brand growth, and audience engagement.
  • Translate ministry goals, campaigns, and messaging priorities into clear creative direction and compelling storytelling.
  • Champion and steward brand standards, ensuring all creative work reflects the organization's identity, theology, and values.
  • Serve as the senior creative advisor to the SVP of Communications & Brand and other executives, influencing brand positioning, creative investment, and messaging decisions.
  • Stay ahead of design, content, and media trends to infuse innovation and excellence into all creative expressions.
Operational Leadership & Project Execution:
  • Lead the daily operations of the Creative Services department, ensuring smooth workflows, clear priorities, and timely delivery of all projects.
  • Oversee project intake, prioritization, and scheduling from concept through completion.
  • Translate creative vision into actionable plans, milestones, and resource allocations that enable efficient execution.
  • Build and optimize tools, systems, and processes that improve team productivity, visibility, and collaboration.
  • Monitor timelines, budgets, and resources; proactively identify and remove roadblocks to ensure delivery excellence.
Team Development & Leadership:
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a world-class creative team that embodies ADF's mission and values.
  • Provide creative direction, coaching, and feedback that raise the quality and impact of all deliverables.
  • Foster a spirit of trust, innovation, and servant leadership across the team.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance evaluations, and professional-growth conversations.
  • Approve PTO requests, timecards, and expense reports while modeling stewardship and accountability.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Executive Support:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Creative Services and other departments (Marketing, Communications, Development, Legal, Events, etc.).
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure creative outputs align with campaign strategies and organizational priorities.
  • Represent Creative Services in senior-level discussions and strategic planning sessions.
  • Clearly communicate project status, priorities, and expectations to leadership and stakeholders.
Brand Stewardship & Innovation:
  • Ensure all creative output meets or exceeds brand standards, storytelling quality, and audience-engagement goals.
  • Lead the ongoing evolution of ADF's visual and narrative identity across all media.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and innovation within the creative team.
  • Evaluate completed projects against the Creative Brief and incorporate learnings into process enhancements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in design, marketing, communications, project management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive creative-services or agency experience, including at least 5 years in leadership or people management.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated creative strategies and campaigns.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary creative teams across digital, print, and video platforms, while upholding a high bar for innovation and quality.
  • Exceptional creative vision and storytelling ability grounded in brand and audience insight.
  • Proven experience producing engaging short-form video and social-media content.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills with a servant-leader mindset, empowering team members to achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent organizational and project-management abilities; capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker who can connect creative output to organizational impact and ministry goals.
  • Operational leader who can builds systems, processes, and teams that deliver consistent, high-quality creative work.
  • Skilled communicator and collaborator with the ability to influence across departments and leadership levels.
  • High discernment in balancing urgent creative needs with quality standards and strategic priorities.
