POSITION LOCATION: Carpenter Elementary

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Building Administrator (duties also assigned by building librarian) QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent 2 - 4 years of library experience

An ideal candidate will have ability to:

organize work and set priorities work independently and without direct supervision pay attention to detail when accomplishing Library tasks operate or learn to operate online computer applications and office equipment ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interact with students, teachers, and visitors in a positive, welcoming manner. Process new library materials. Maintain and update online records as directed by librarians. Repair library materials that are mendable; withdraw unmendable books from catalog. Assist with circulation desk as directed by elementary librarian. Shelve checked-in library materials as directed by elementary librarian. Inventory library supplies as needed and communicate order needs to librarian. Conduct annual library materials Inventory as directed by librarians. Maintain and update patron record in Destiny circulation system. Assist with displays and exhibits as directed by librarians. Regular and reliable attendance. Maintain confidentiality with all records and communications. Other duties may be assigned. Work in multiple buildings as assigned. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, staff and parents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Operate personal computer at an intermediate level as well as operate various programs, such as Word, Excel, FileMaker Pro and internet. Work with media equipment such as video, laminating machine and fax and typewriters. Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion to operate computers or laminating machine; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk. The employee must frequently push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds such as TV/VCR carts and boxes of books. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to tell differences among colors.
