MECHANICAL DESIGNER at Applied Chemical Technology Location: Florence, AL | Salary: $75,000 - $88,000 Education and Work Experience Associate’s Degree in Design or equivalent work experience and training 3+ years’ experience in Industrial Process Design, Industrial Equipment Design, Estimating, and proficient use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD software Required Skills Training, experience, and proficiency in latest version of SolidWorks and AutoCAD Training and experience in industrial process design, piping and instrument design, electrical designs, structural designs, and in equipment used in design Excellent hand drawing skills Experience in cost estimating of equipment (material and labor) Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel Effective communication through verbal, written, and electronic formats Ability to maintain a professional, courteous, and tactful working relationship with other employees and with clients and visitors Ability to maintain a clean work environment and a professional appearance while on the job Must be detail-oriented and well-organized Job Duties Report to the Design Manager Respect and adhere to all active contracts and confidentiality agreements with Applied Chemical Technology and associated clients. Respect and adhere to all safety rules, procedures, and complete all necessary safety training Design industrial process plants and equipment, and estimate the cost of each Use drawing skills and understanding of mechanics to create visual plans that are used by engineers and fabricators to create products Work with engineers and others in obtaining necessary information and data to complete designs and cost estimates Responsible for the procurement of materials and buyout items Physical Demands Coordinate the use of both hands to perform tasks Ability to sit and work on the computer for several hours at a time Lifting and handling of boxes and sales equipment of up to 50lbs Reaching overhead, stooping, kneeling, walking, talking, hearing, reading and seeing. Hours 40 hrs/week (8am – 5pm); must be able to work on short notice and work extra hours, including weekends, if needed Benefits Comprehensive benefit package including medical, 401K, leave, and supplemental coverages, some available after probationary period.
