  • This person will plan out the project, communicate the build schedule, and participate in the build. Candidates resumes should demonstrate equipment design and build.
  • Client is seeking an experienced and innovative Engineer to join their Thin Films & Coatings Solutions team.
  • The successful candidate will lead the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of thin film, plasma, and vacuum deposition equipment and processes.
  • This role requires advanced engineering expertise, strong project leadership, and the ability to drive cross‑functional collaboration in both cleanroom and non‑cleanroom environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, installation, and optimization of vacuum deposition equipment and related systems (electrical, cooling water, gas, exhaust).
  • Develop and implement process improvements for thin film deposition, driving efficiency and quality enhancements.
  • Perform advanced operational testing, diagnostics, and root cause analysis for complex equipment and process issues.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians; provide technical leadership on upgrades and modifications to equipment and controls (including PLCs).
  • Author and review technical documentation, reports, and work instructions; ensure best practices are shared and adopted.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols and procedures in all work environments; champion safety initiatives.
  • Lead cross‑functional project teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to strategic problem‑solving efforts.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, Physics, or related field); Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of lab/industrial work experience, including cleanroom environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical/electrical systems, fluid handling, and vacuum/gas facilitation.
  • Extensive experience with laboratory or industrial equipment, including PLCs, automation, and CAD software.
  • In‑depth knowledge of plasma processes and electrical wiring.
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively; experience leading teams and projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
  • Comfortable working in cleanroom attire when required.
  • Combination of cleanroom and non‑cleanroom environments.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
