Director of Music Ministry Trinity Lutheran Church – Fort Worth, TX About Trinity Lutheran Church Trinity Lutheran Church is a welcoming, growing, and active ELCA community of faith near TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. Approximately 190 people worship with us weekly at two Sunday services and one Wednesday intergenerational gathering. We follow the ancient Lutheran worship pattern (Ordo: Gathering, Word, Meal, Sending) and celebrate weekly Eucharist, welcoming all to the Lord’s table. Music is central to our worship life—we have a strong music ministry featuring an adult choir, a handbell choir, an African marimba ensemble, and occasional guest instrumentalists. We have recently completed a major building project that included both an addition and remodel. Trinity also operates a thriving Children’s Center serving around 100 children (ages 6 weeks through pre‑K) each day. In addition to our own ministries, we host community groups and partner with many organizations in the city to “Make Christ Known and Share God’s Love and Grace.” Position Summary Trinity Lutheran Church is seeking a full-time Director of Music Ministry to lead and develop all aspects of our music program in support of the congregation’s worship and faith formation. This worship planning, ensemble leadership, organ/piano performance, seasonal and special services for Advent, Lent, funerals, and weddings, as well as early childhood music at our Children’s Center, where music instruction is part of the curriculum. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled organist and choral director who will work with people of all ages bringing energy and expertise to planning worship, working collaboratively with pastoral staff, leading ensembles, and working with volunteers. A willingness to learn and grow will be valued in the absence of training in one particular area of the portfolio. Key Responsibilities Worship Leadership: Select hymns and liturgical music in support of the lectionary; lead worship from the organ and piano. Choir Direction: Rehearse and conduct the adult choir; plan seasonal choral music. Handbells & Marimba Ensemble: Lead and grow these ensembles as part of worship and outreach. Early Childhood Music: Provide age‑appropriate music for children (ages 6 weeks to pre‑K) in Trinity Lutheran Children’s Center. Special Services: Plan and perform for major liturgical events (Christmas, Easter, funerals, etc.). Collaboration & Administration: Partner with the pastor and staff; maintain instruments and music library; support volunteer musicians. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in music (required); advanced training or certifications preferred Proficiency in organ and piano; strong choral conducting experience Familiarity with Lutheran liturgy, especially ELCA traditions Experience working with children and early childhood music education Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills A collaborative, faith‑rooted spirit and love for worship and community Compensation & Benefits This is a salaried position with benefits (health insurance, retirement contributions, vacation, and professional development).
