The Opportunity
CACI has exciting opportunities for a Technical Writer in support of the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Enterprise IT as a Service (EITaaS) program. The successful candidate will be a professional who has strong technical documentation skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to understand technical information and convey it in documented form appropriate to the target audience. They will be a strong team player who is able to work effectively and efficiently to meet team and program timelines.
EITaaS Program is a Department of the Air Force (DAF) initiative, which includes the Air Force and Space Force. EITaaS will transform the Dept. of the Air Force IT services to an advanced enterprise service delivery model, providing enhanced enterprise IT capabilities, global service desk, local field services, and life cycle support for end‑user devices.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Technical Writer on the VDI team and other EITaaS teams, for the Dept. of the Air Force.
- Work with your manager and colleagues to understand requirements, priorities, and objectives to ensure work supports the larger capabilities and direction of the overall solution.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining clear, concise, and accurate documentation for the EITaaS Capability teams, primarily the EITaaS VDI team.
- Work closely with the program’s engineers, capability owners, and other subject matter experts to understand complex concepts and translate them into audience‑appropriate materials.
- Document technical processes, solution designs, system configurations, user documentation, and solution presentations.
- Take documents through the formal program review and issuing process with the Engineering Support team.
Specific Responsibilities Include

Documentation Development
- Plan, research, write, edit, and revise a wide range of technical documentation.
- Collaborate with SMEs to understand product features, functionality, and technical specifications.
- Ensure documentation uses the latest templates, is accurate, consistent, and adheres to company style guidelines.
- Adapt writing style and tone to suit the target audience.
- Manage documentation projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to deadlines.
- Submit artifacts to the EITaaS review process and address comments.

Content Management
- Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product changes.
- Organize documentation in a structured format.
- Utilize CMS and documentation tools to create, manage, and publish documentation.
- Implement and maintain version control.

Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with engineering, product, and support teams to gather information.
- Participate in team and program meetings to stay informed of changes.
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from users and stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively about documentation status and timelines.

Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes and workflows.
- Contribute to style guides and documentation standards.
- Stay up‑to‑date on industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications
Required
- US Citizenship required.
- 8+ Years of relevant experience (or 5 years with Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field).
- Ability to obtain/maintain secret clearance, Active DoD clearance preferred.
- Experience documenting technical procedures, solutions, system specification.
- Experience with documentation tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat) and CMS (e.g., SharePoint, Git).
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in creating and formatting documents using various software applications.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills to manage multiple workstreams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create and execute detailed technical processes.
Desired
- Experience with Microsoft Windows operating system and applications.
- Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience with enterprise security controls such as DISA STIGs or NIST 800‑53.

Pay Range
This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and incorporated into CACI’s government contract for the work location.
Minimum Required Hourly Wage: $17.75.
Additional factors influencing salary include geographical location, prior experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. We offer competitive compensation, benefits, learning and development opportunities.
