As part of our expansion, we are seeking a Computational Designer to develop fully integrated design‑to‑production workflows and automation tools that increase companywide efficiency and cross‑departmental interoperability. Location: Tualatin, Oregon . Position type: Full‑time, On‑site . Summary As a Computational Designer, you will work closely with our teams to optimize workflows and create data‑rich, mass‑customization approaches for aluminum frame manufacturing. Specific applications include: Automation tool development Web‑based product configurators Injection of product metadata into existing workflows Interoperability connectors (Rhino.Inside, Power Automate, etc.) Algorithmic optimization (packing, routing, scheduling) Agentic CRM/ERP/ecommerce integrations The ideal candidate will be passionate about digital fabrication, software, emerging technologies, and multi‑disciplinary design approaches. Strong preference is given to candidates with coding experience and who are located (or willing to relocate) in the Portland, OR metro area. Key Responsibilities Collaboration & support: work under the guidance of team members to support company goals and help solve design challenges. Assist with the creation of organizational processes and workflows for mass customization in architectural manufacturing. Develop simple, elegant solutions to geometry and data‑related challenges. Support the automation of shop drawings, estimating takeoffs, and production deliverables. Create interoperability between project files and digital tools. Contribute to the development of parametric models, tools, and automation scripts using Rhino/Grasshopper and Excel. Engage with emerging technologies and digital fabrication techniques to optimize design and production processes. Assist with the implementation of data‑driven workflows and support multi‑disciplinary design efforts. Conduct research to support digital infrastructure initiatives, focusing primarily on company‑wide processes with occasional project‑specific tasks. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Industrial Design, Computer Science, or an Engineering discipline. Experience 0–5 years of computational design experience, with preference given to candidates with professional Architecture/Engineering/Construction/Manufacturing experience. Applicable academic work will also be considered. Understanding of digital fabrication and the application of computational design methods. Experience with design software, data manipulation, or mass customization workflows. Hard Skills Expert Rhino/Grasshopper user. Intermediate software development experience. Previous experience in technical drawing interpretation/creation. Previous experience with digital fabrication workflows and project realization. Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail. Soft Skills Collaborative with the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment. A growth mindset with the willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and technologies. Desirable but Not Required Web development (Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS) High‑level programming languages (C#, Python, VBA) RhinoCommon/Grasshopper/AutoCAD/Excel APIs Use of external API to build plugins. Data analysis/manipulation libraries (LINQ, Pandas, NumPy, etc.) Operational research / ML libraries (OR-Tools, Scikit-learn, etc.) Advanced Excel – VBA, Power Query, & Pivot Tables. Why Join Us?
