The Department of Music in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Voice (rank: Assistant Professor). The position will begin in the 2026‑2027 academic year.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduates in voice, offering private lessons to a studio of approximately ten students each semester.
Develop and deliver an additional undergraduate course annually related to the candidate’s specialty.
Serve as Coordinator of Vocal Studies, supervising 4‑5 part‑time voice teachers who cover a range of styles and repertoires.
Support diverse students with varied backgrounds and abilities through effective pedagogy and mentoring.
Maintain an active professional performing career that complements teaching duties.
Qualifications
Doctorate in Voice Performance or Voice Pedagogy obtained by the time of appointment.
Strong background in art song and vocal pedagogy, with a focus on foundational vocal technique.
Demonstrated teaching experience and a philosophy of inclusive pedagogy.
Active performance record, including recent recital programs and video recordings of at least five works.
Commitment to teaching music majors and non‑majors within a liberal arts undergraduate context.
