This is a Full Time position in the field of Production Coordinator / Project Management, located in Los Angeles, CA.
Position Summary: This position will support our Manager in producing engaging in-game content and contributing to the overall fan experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for basketball, strong storytelling instincts and proficiency in video editing software. This role also requires basic camera, lighting and audio knowledge to support on-location shoots, including media day and other team productions. Key metrics used to evaluate performance: Quantity/quality of new game entertainment ideas implemented, Feedback from fans, Overall run of show execution, Feedback from other department heads.
Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)
- Content Creation, Ideation & Logging: Edit player features, hype videos, and milestone content for in-game presentation
- Collaborate with the Game Entertainment team to brainstorm and develop innovative content ideas
- Create compelling visual content that aligns with brand guidelines
- Log and organize broadcast highlight footage, including ongoing maintenance of game melts
- Help maintain our archive of historical Lakers video content, including metadata tagging, file naming, and team-wide accessibility
- Clip segments from the in-arena video board show for reuse and for internal/external distribution
- Fulfill content requests from internal teams (Marketing, Corporate Partnerships) and coordinate with outside vendors for external video needs
- Game Day Duties:
- Support video and graphic content playback in the control room during home games
- Prepare player highlight packages and stat graphics for live presentation
- Assist with edit quality control, including resolution, color, and file type checks; use Adobe Media Encoder to resolve formatting issues and ensure proper delivery and file structure
- Respond to last-minute content needs, such as tributes, milestone packages, or celebrity features that require quick-turn edits
- Camera & Audio Production:
- Operate professional cameras for Media Day, behind-the-scenes shoots, and promotional content
- Execute green screen productions with clean lighting and proper camera placement
- Set up and balance lighting for interviews and branded content shoots
- Handle and monitor audio equipment, ensuring clean capture and proper levels
- Maintain production gear including cameras, lights, audio kits, and batteries
- Cross Department Collaboration & Technical Workflow:
- Work across departments (Marketing, Sponsorship, Animation, Game Ops) to fulfill video needs
- Share alpha channel exports and assets with animators and motion designers
- Use a project management platform to track tasks, timelines, and approvals
- Maintain organized workflows and shared drives for ongoing projects
- Demonstrate professionalism when working around athletes, talent, and in high-pressure game day environments
- Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management
Experience
- Education (Required/Preferred): Bachelor’s degree
- Previous experience: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a video editor, preferably in sports
- Technology: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop
- Must be willing to wear a headset
- Knowledge, skills, abilities: A passion and understanding for live sports, NBA experience a plus
- Working knowledge of camera operation, lighting and audio setup
- Experience with green screen shots and studio interviews preferred
- Extremely organized with a high attention to detail and logistics
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Must be able to make quick, quality decisions
- Physical Demands: Must be able to lift a min of 25lbs. and walk significant distances in arena on game days
- Location: El Segundo (offices M-F), downtown Los Angeles (Crypto.com Arena for Laker home games), and other occasional off-site events
- Travel: Less than 5% of the time
