In This Role You Will A Technical Writer at Actabl plays a crucial role in identifying, analyzing, designing, developing, and managing the Actabl documentation for delivery to customers and employees. This role is responsible for writing product instructions, user manuals or other materials for all four products equally, that help explain complex information and procedures. In addition, the Technical Writer writes help information available to customers online.

Typical Functions

Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables.

Gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality.

Manage documentation projects effectively to meet deadlines and quality standards.

Proactively escalate project issues, roadblocks, and scope changes as they occur.

Work with Actabl subject matter experts (SMEs) and other internal groups to develop and maintain documentation that meets established Actabl quality metrics.

Practice established documentation development and maintenance practices as set forth in the Actabl Corporate Communications Style Guide.

Write, format, edit, review, and proof procedural and technical information for technical and nontechnical users.

Provide editing support for all document types, as requested.

Maintain the library of application documentation, cataloging it for internal and/or external use.

Research changes to documentation and update existing documents, as required.

Solicit feedback for measuring documentation effectiveness.

Conduct user/task analysis to determine documentation requirements with direction from Manager/Lead.

Understand, support, and apply effective documentation development and maintenance practices, including the use and continuous improvement of stated processes, procedures, templates, and standards.

Perform peer reviews to ensure Actabl documentation is accurate, relevant, concise, easy to use, and conforms to style guide and quality metrics.

Use established templates to create and publish documentation.

Develop documentation plan and development schedule for identified documentation projects.

Advise other departments on user interface and writing standards.

Proactively seek solutions to problems by coordinating with appropriate resources.

Edit/Amend style guide as standards change or create a style guide in the absence of one.

Requirements Unpacking What We’re Looking For

Ideal Skills & Experience

2-4 years of proven experience as a technical writer for the software industry.

Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is preferred; can be substituted for equivalent experience.

Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite.

Strong communication skills to convey information effectively to customers and internal teams.

Ability to adhere to standard technical communication processes and apply appropriate technology for the documentation type.

Ability to gather, analyze, design, verify, and manage information throughout the software development life cycle.

Ability to organize information and present it clearly for technical and nontechnical audiences.

Observational, data modeling, and analytical skills to inform documentation.

Exemplary writing samples available upon request.

Ability to work in and manage ambiguity and negotiate documentation priorities among stakeholders.

Strong consultative skills and ability to make persuasive, business-driven recommendations.

Work Environment This is a hybrid position in Denver with three in-office days (Tuesday-Thursday) and two remote days (Monday & Friday). Candidates outside the Denver Metro Area will be considered as needed.

Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000 depending on experience. Potential for end-of-year bonus earnings and merit increases based on performance.
