Opportunity The Senior Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Designer in the Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) market leads the design effort and works in conjunction with the Project Manager. The role entails understanding and identifying project requirements, performing high‑level technical design, delegating work, and managing outcomes. The designer coordinates production with the workgroup and provides guidance to the Project Manager on completion of duties.

Your Key Responsibilities

Develop systems designs within own discipline with minimal supervision.

Perform site visits for surveys, progress inspections, and final punch lists as required by project timelines.

Prepare project deliverables per the client’s intent and scope of work in Stantec’s proposal.

Follow Stantec’s quality management process; review project deliverables before submitting to QA/QC reviewer.

Actively participate in the engineering/professional community to build personal knowledge and professional growth (e.g., attend meetings, seminars, conferences, and/or write articles for trade magazines).

Meet or exceed utilization goals and adhere to project budget.

Assist or act as the project manager when needed: provide input or create plans to complete tasks within the project timeline and budget, and identify required precursors from other disciplines in a timely fashion.

Create detailed instructions, delegate tasks, and review returned work as necessary to ensure timely execution of the project within budget.

Identify and report potential roadblocks and competing client and co‑worker priorities that may inhibit the ability to maintain the project scope, schedule, and budget.

Develop understanding of Stantec’s accounting and project management systems.

Capabilities and Credentials

Possess knowledge of ICT design principles for backbone, horizontal cabling, and high‑level knowledge of practices and principles of other disciplines as they relate to ICT design.

Understand customer‑owned outside‑plant pathway design.

Possess knowledge of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards and Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) best practices.

Have extensive background experience and knowledge of Data Center Facilities, with experience in hyperscale data centers.

Possess knowledge of nomenclature, design techniques, materials, details, system components, construction techniques, related Structured Cabling Systems, and building codes.

Be able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, specifications, technical procedures, and government regulations.

Proficient in applicable software (e.g., CAD, Bluebeam, and Revit).

Communicate effectively to convey scope and coordination items to clients, vendors, and co‑workers.

Provide clear and concise direction, delegate tasks, and take ownership of work performed by others.

Display effective organization and time‑management skills with projects, reports, and other duties; manage multiple priorities and be punctual and dependable.

Education and Experience

Experience with ICT design within Mission Critical Facilities is required.

Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.

Minimum 8–10 years related industry experience.

This role typically involves working in an office environment, using computers, and remaining sedentary for extended periods. Depending on the assignment, remote work may be an option for up to two days per week.

Pay Range

Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) – $127,400.00 – $191,100.00 Annually
