Responsibilities
Perform fundamental financial and credit analysis using publicly available information, integrating conclusions with outside opinions and rating agency data; recommend suitability of securities for individual portfolios and commingled funds.
Establish provisional investment limits within delegated authority and formal approval processes.
Ensure portfolio control systems are maintained and updated continuously, and that assigned issuers and sectors are reviewed, analyzed, and documented to fulfill internal and external regulatory requirements.
Perform special analysis projects such as valuation of non‑marketable debt securities, exchange offerings, and credit risk evaluation of derivative financial products.
Negotiate covenant protection and other terms in private placement purchases of debt securities to address credit risk aspects of such purchases.
Oversee and coordinate portfolio review projects such as the Unrated Security and Below Investment Grade Reviews.
Establish communication links with outside rating agencies and other fixed‑income analysts.
Participate with portfolio managers on assigned committees to develop investment strategy relating to cash and fixed income securities.
Provide training to less experienced staff members to enhance their understanding of credit risk evaluation and help develop their analytical skills.
Qualifications Minimum 5 years of fixed‑income securities or credit‑related financial analysis experience; experience within the high‑yield space, specifically in Technology, Media, or Telecommunications, is preferred.
Knowledge required of business and financial markets, financial and credit analysis, accounting principles, economic conditions, and legal matters related to debt instruments. Analytical and presentation skills needed to interpret offering statements and legal documents and to prepare and present analytical reports. Computer skills required to gather and present information. Leadership skills required to provide guidance for less experienced analysts.
Salary Range $160,100 – $272,300 USD
