Associate Director, Field Marketing - New York
The Associate Director is a field-based, customer-facing role within Takeda’s Dermatology marketing team based in New York and neighboring states. The role focuses on cultivating long‑term relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in Psoriasis across the U.S. The Associate Director plays a critical part in shaping and executing brand strategy by driving strategic partnerships, facilitating meaningful dialogue about the evolving treatment landscape, and positioning Takeda as a leader in PsO.
Responsibilities
Key Opinion Leader Engagement : Identify, cultivate, and maintain long‑term relationships with national and regional KOLs and Advanced Practice Providers in dermatology; develop and execute engagement plans aligned with brand objectives; ensure compliant scientific communication; gather competitive intelligence and act as liaison between KOLs and Takeda leadership.
Insight Generation : Capture, document, and analyze customer and market insights to identify regional and national trends; share synthesized insights with cross‑functional stakeholders; keep the team informed of market activities.
Advisory Boards : Plan, develop, and execute advisory board meetings with KOLs; identify and recruit appropriate advisors; lead post‑meeting debriefs and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
Conferences & Congresses : Support strategy and execution of national and regional congresses; attend conferences, synthesize key insights, and share them with internal teams; coordinate KOL engagement opportunities related to congresses; facilitate post‑congress debrief sessions.
Partner‑to‑Partner Engagement : Lead partnerships with field leadership within the assigned geography; identify educational needs and launch programs; support speaker bureau development.
Cross‑Functional Partnership : Serve as a strategic bridge between internal teams (Commercial, Field Sales, Key Accounts, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Leadership) and external thought leaders; coordinate activities for compliance and strategic alignment; manage multiple initiatives without formal authority.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Marketing, Strategy, Business Administration, or related field.
10+ years of progressive experience in biopharmaceutical marketing or sales, including at least 3 years in KOL management.
Proven experience developing engagement plans for KOL management and liaising with external stakeholders.
Experience in speaker bureau strategy, training, content development, and national program execution.
Strong leadership capabilities, ability to set direction, drive alignment, resolve issues, and assess risk.
Excellent collaboration and influence skills across cross‑functional teams without direct authority.
Highly organized with strong analytical, problem‑solving, and strategic thinking skills; manages multiple projects simultaneously.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, learning agility, financial acumen, and budgeting experience.
Skill in using AI tools to drive efficiency and innovation.
Preferred
Experience in the Psoriasis therapeutic market.
New product launch experience.
In‑depth knowledge of buy‑and‑bill reimbursement models and payer dynamics.
Experience with complex biologics.
Travel Requirements Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including conferences on weekends, overnight programs, and key internal meetings. Individual must reside within the territory boundaries because of the extensive travel required.
