Distribution Designer BinkleyBarfield | DCCM is seeking a Distribution Designer to perform project‑related work in the utilities industry, designing and planning power distribution facilities. What You Will Do Gather information from various outlets such as GIS and Google Earth. Investigate project needs and provide solutions to complete the assigned project. Design overhead and underground electric projects using engineering software. Determine fuse size and coordinate with engineers or staff professionals. Learn and apply design and construction standards. Interpret Right‑of‑Way documents and requirements for project design. Field‑check assigned projects and document conditions related to your project. Issue Survey & Staking requests to crews and stake projects on your own when needed. Create Design Sketches, Work Orders, and Materials lists for the project. Perform analysis of designs to determine structural integrity and connectivity. Inspect power lines including poles, wires, transformers, and other electric facilities. Work in varying conditions, from office environments to harsh field conditions as required. Drive personal vehicle in various weather and terrain conditions as required. Who You Are You have good computer literacy and are ready to learn new programs and skills. You are a good communicator and excellent listener with above‑average comprehension. Problem‑solving comes naturally. You are a critical thinker who can apply knowledge to assignments and bring everything together. You excel in time management and may have developed these and other skills in a technical setting. You are equally willing to work in a variety of settings, including an office environment and all possible field conditions. What You Bring A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate degree or higher is preferred. Highly motivated person looking to get started in an engineering‑related field. Evidence of successful performance at past endeavors (High GPA, awards, references, etc.). Proficiency in using various computer software packages. Have or are working towards a construction/engineering‑related degree or certificate (preferred but not required). 2 years’ relevant experience (preferred but not required).
