Overview
Assistant Professor of Music (Clarinet) a full‑time tenure track position in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music, Kennesaw State University. Preferred start date August 2026. This nine‑month contracted position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia. Responsibilities
Teach applied clarinet lessons, clarinet studio classes, and related courses (including chamber music, pedagogy, or literature). Maintain an active professional profile through performance, research/creative activity, and service to the discipline. Recruit and mentor a talented student body, preparing graduates for successful careers in teaching, performance, and related fields. Collaborate with colleagues in wind, orchestral, chamber, and new music ensembles to support the vibrant performance culture of the Bailey School of Music. Provide service to the Bailey School of Music, Geer College of the Arts, University, and profession through committee participation, leadership, and community engagement. Required Qualifications
A Doctorate, or the foreign equivalent, in Music is required at the time of hire. A minimum of three years teaching experience at the college level. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and student mentorship at the collegiate level. Ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and community partners in a collaborative environment. National recognition as a clarinet performer and pedagogue, evidenced by major engagements, recordings, publications, or professional honors. Experience in graduate‑level instruction and supervision. Record of successful student recruitment and studio development. Engagement with interdisciplinary or cross‑genre collaborations, including contemporary or experimental performance practices.
