Responsibilities

Teach applied lessons to undergraduate violin and viola.

Lead weekly upper strings studio class.

Team-teach string techniques.

May teach in additional areas based on department needs and candidate’s experience, such as music theory/aural skills, functional piano, music appreciation, music business, music technology.

Perform and act as Concertmaster of the Southeast Symphony Orchestra. Duties include sectional coachings, bowings, etc.

Actively participate in areas reviewed for promotion and tenure, including teaching effectiveness, professional growth, and service activities (advising, academic duties, recruitment and retention efforts on‑ and off‑campus).

Qualifications

Doctorate or ABD (with completion by August 1, 2026) in music; degree must be from a regionally or internationally accredited or government‑certified university.

Elevated profile or promising trajectory as a violin performer.

Demonstrated experience teaching upper strings and the ability to teach in a secondary area.

Demonstrated ability to act as Concertmaster.

Demonstrated commitment to recruiting and retaining students.

Demonstrated ability to motivate students and work collegially when interacting with the university community.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
