Job Description Actalent is seeking an experienced Distribution Designer to join our team in North Carolina. The successful candidate will support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects, performing engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorating cable, moving overhead lines underground, reconductoring existing distribution lines, and replacing aging poles.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering calculations and designs related to power distribution.

Conduct structural analysis of poles and guying.

Perform cable pulling and calculate electric demand and fault currents.

Coordinate protective devices for power distribution projects.

Essential Skills

Two years of electric utility distribution design experience.

Proficiency in distribution design tools such as BOUD, Maximo, Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer, and Microstation.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in the electric utility industry.

Working knowledge of primary and secondary distribution systems and utility standards.

Ability to use design software packages and general construction knowledge.

Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with Duke Energy's system and performing distribution design.

Experience interacting with customers and developers for distribution projects.

EIT certification or successful completion of the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Work Environment The position offers a long‑term opportunity with one of the largest power utilities in the country, contributing to a program that enhances power distribution reliability across the Southeast United States. Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay & Benefits Pay range: $22.00 – $30.00/hr.
