Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator This role is for the YWCA of Asheville and WNC. The position is central to promoting the YWCA mission and engaging the community.

Pay Range Base pay: $42,000 – $58,000 per year.

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Position Overview: A creative, values‑driven, and entrepreneurial professional to join the Advancement Team as a Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator/Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement multi‑channel marketing and advertising strategies with the Advancement Team and Program Directors to build awareness and achieve donor, membership, and volunteer recruitment goals.

Collaborate with the Communications Specialist on content planning, creation, and distribution.

Conduct market and target audience research.

Design and implement campaigns across email, print/mail, social media, website, and other digital channels.

Create marketing materials and stories that reflect the YWCA’s mission and impact.

Perform basic graphic design, visual layout, and photo editing to maintain brand consistency.

Analyze campaign performance, prepare KPI reports, and make recommendations for improvement.

Manage advertising placement, contracts, and related budgets.

Maintain inventory of marketing and outreach supplies and equipment.

Provide editing and crisis communications support as needed.

Coordinate cross‑departmental projects.

Outreach and Community Relations

Serve as central coordinator for outreach campaigns, events, and initiatives aligned with our mission.

Develop and update the annual YW Outreach and Partner Event calendar in collaboration with program/department representatives.

Coordinate and promote the YWCA’s participation in community and partnership events.

Support volunteer recruitment and coordination for YWCA events and campaigns.

Enhance the YWCA’s visibility by building strong relationships with media, community partners, and like‑minded organizations.

Write and distribute press releases and build media relationships.

Monitor community sentiment, opportunities, and challenges.

Distribute flyers and collateral in the community.

Donor Communications and Storytelling

Collaborate with the Advancement Team to support fundraising and donor engagement.

Assist with content development and production of fundraising appeals.

Coordinate creative content (scripts, videos, photography) for donor‑facing events.

Manage sponsorship deliverables for YWCA events and corporate programs.

Photograph events and programs as needed.

Qualifications

Coordinator Role: 2–5 years of marketing, communications, and/or public relations experience.

Manager Role: 5+ years of relevant experience.

Proficiency with MS Office, Google Workspace, Squarespace, and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).

Experience creating content for diverse audiences across digital and traditional media.

Basic graphic design and layout skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar).

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

Excellent verbal communication and comfort with public speaking.

Ability to build and maintain press and media relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of nonprofit sector marketing practices.

Digital photography skills.

Spanish fluency.
