The College of Design at Georgia Tech invites nominations for the founding Chair of the School of Arts, Entertainment, and Creative Technologies. The Chair will develop a nationally and internationally recognized center of excellence at the intersection of arts practice and emerging technologies, leading the new school’s academic, research, and industry engagement initiatives.

About the School of Arts, Entertainment, and Creative Technologies:

The newly launched school integrates artistic foundations, technical innovation, and creative entrepreneurship. It will pilot courses in Spring 2025, launch a B.S. program in Fall 2026, and develop a curriculum that prepares students for careers in film, gaming, immersive media, and related industries. The school will leverage Georgia Tech’s strengths in AI, digital media, and music technology, collaborate with creative studios, technology firms, non‑profits, and artists‑in‑residence, and build partnerships within Atlanta’s creative ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Manage academic, fiscal, and personnel matters to align the school with the strategic objectives of the College and Institute.

Maintain an active teaching and research role within the school.

Create interdisciplinary relationships with other schools in the College of Design and across campus.

Foster a vibrant research culture.

Elevate awareness of the school through public presentations, engagement with prospective students, alumni, community, arts, and industry leaders.

Collaborate with community and corporate leaders via the Dean’s Advisory Board, building lasting relationships that support the school’s mission and growth.

Develop curricular plans for program expansion, including majors, minors, certificates, and graduate degrees.

Manage space and resources to accommodate growth and ensure technology expansion as the landscape evolves.

Required Qualifications Candidates must hold a terminal degree or professional equivalency in the intersection of arts, entertainment, and creative technologies, with a distinguished record of scholarship, creative achievement, and a record that typically qualifies for a tenured full‑professor position.

Preferred Qualifications Active commitment to the creative industries and technologies, exceptional teaching and research excellence, and ability to engage community and industry leaders. Experience in academic or research administration is desirable, especially skills in industry partnerships and fundraising.
