The Design Center offers complimentary interior design service and sells a full range of home furnishings, including custom furniture and artisan‑crafted accents. Associates are valued as brand ambassadors and are rewarded for building lasting client relationships.

General Objectives The Design Consultant collaborates with customers—at the design center, remotely, online, or in the customer’s home—to create individualized design solutions that sell Ethan Allen products and services. Duties include space planning, fabric coordination, product selection and overall project design. Success is measured by meeting sales goals and building relationships in a flexible, relationship‑based selling environment. Some projects may require a team or partnership‑based approach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Create design solutions consistent with customer preferences and budgets.

Sell Ethan Allen’s products and services.

Represent the Ethan Allen brand in all interactions, greeting customers and obtaining appointments in‑home and at the design center.

Make regular home calls to evaluate needs and close sales.

Utilize grassroots marketing and social media platforms to grow the business.

Educate customers on complimentary design services and financing options.

Stay current on design and color trends.

Coordinate with the team to provide exceptional customer service before and after the sale.

Participate in corporate marketing and training programs.

Maintain a neat, orderly design center.

Collaborate with leaders to develop business and marketing plans and monitor their effectiveness.

Use corporate systems (3‑D Room Planner, CRM, Live Chat, etc.) to maximize productivity.

Build relationships with outside talent via social media and professional networks.

Perform any other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant work experience.

At least one year of practical interior design experience; bachelor’s degree in a design‑related field is desirable.

Broad knowledge of interior design and effective sales techniques.

Working knowledge of online sales and design tools.

Strong listening, oral and written communication skills.

Experience in social media and grassroots marketing.

Valid driver’s license; alternate transportation available if required.

Intermediate skill in digital floor‑planning technology; 3‑D application experience a plus.

Experience with augmented or virtual reality and other visualization tools.

Willingness and capability to learn new technologies.

Compensation Design Consultants receive a recoverable draw ranging from $30,000 to $70,000 annually based on written sales. The potential income for experienced consultants averages $70,000–$115,000 per year, with top performers earning $200,000 or more.
