Position Summary This position will provide music therapy in caring for the health needs of infant, child, adolescent, and families.
Position Duties
Provides comprehensive music therapy services to patients and families that meet the emotional, physical, cognitive, social/cultural and communicative needs.
Collaborate as a member of the health care team by integrating music therapy into the care of the patient.
Performs assessments of patients and families to identify the needs in order to set short and/or long-term goals.
Provides music therapy interventions that are goal-oriented and patient/family focused.
Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and modifies care based on results.
Document music therapy interventions in patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner (original assessment and progress notes).
Communicates effectively with Child Life staff and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team on clinical care planning and issues revealed through music therapy sessions.
Presents educational in‑services about music therapy within the medical facility.
Maintain accurate music therapy session statistics in quality assurance efforts.
Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
Position Qualifications Education
Master's degree in Music Therapy or related field (Required)
Bachelor's degree (Optional)
Experience
Two years experience in a related field (Required)
Experience planning and providing activities for children (Required)
Experience providing therapeutic activity in a pediatric hospital setting (Required)
Special Skills
Bilingual English‑Spanish skills (Preferred)
Additional Requirements
Current Board Certification in Music Therapy (Required)
Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire (Required)
Certifications / Licenses
Music Therapist Board Cert. – Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required within 30 days of start
