Save Job

Forge alternate worlds that deepen players' lives! We're a game development studio based in Montreal, dedicated to the idea that online games can deliver deeper, more meaningful experiences.

We're looking for a

Senior Game Designer

to help define and implement the core gameplay systems for a new, unannounced game in

Unreal Engine 5 . In this key role, you'll help define the core gameplay vision and systems from the ground up, working closely with the Executive Producer and a core cross‑functional team to prototype and shape compelling, emergent experiences for players.

What You’ll Do

Define Core Game Systems:

Lead the design and development of key gameplay systems such as progression loops, quest structures, player incentives, world interaction, and player expression.

Prototype and Iterate:

Rapidly prototype and playtest ideas in UE5 to validate gameplay loops, pacing, and systems.

Execute Design Vision:

Partner with leads and directors to ensure the design vision supports project goals and player motivations.

Cross‑functional Collaboration:

Work closely with engineers, artists, producers, and narrative designers to ensure a unified game experience.

Documentation & Communication:

Author clear, concise design documentation and communicate effectively with team members across disciplines.

Who You Are

Experienced:

At least 1 shipped title in a senior design role—preferably on a multiplayer game.

Creative & Systems‑Oriented:

You excel at creating systems that are deep, interconnected, and ripe for emergent gameplay.

Player‑Centric:

You design with the player’s experience front and center, balancing fun, challenge, and accessibility.

Proficient in Unreal Engine Blueprints —able to build, test, and iterate on gameplay mechanics, mission flows, and content logic without constant engineering support.

Technical Fluency:

Comfortable with rapid prototyping using Blueprints, including the creation of interactive objects, event triggers, quest structures, and progression gates. Capable of identifying when to use Blueprints vs. code, and of working with engineers to optimize or extend functionality.

Strong Communicator:

Skilled at articulating design decisions, receiving and giving feedback, and aligning cross‑functional stakeholders.

Self‑Starter:

Thrives in early stages of game development and enjoys the challenge and freedom of building something new from scratch.

Nice To Have

Experience working on early‑stage game development, such as prototyping and/or pre‑production.

Familiarity with live game systems and balancing for long‑term player engagement.

Knowledge of economic design or player progression systems.

Passion for emergent player storytelling and systems‑driven design.
