As an Assistant Water Resources Designer in San Diego, CA, you will have an opportunity to work with a multi‑disciplinary team on meaningful, landmark projects in the San Diego region. Job Responsibilities
Hydrologic analyses for land development, transportation, green infrastructure, and flood control projects
Hydraulic analyses of storm drain conduit and open channel systems
Floodplain hydraulic analyses and studies for natural channels and restoration and flood control projects
Water quality calculations for the design of best management practices (BMPs)
Flow mitigation/detention modeling
Preparation of conceptual design plans
Preparation of technical reports, stormwater quality management plans (SWQMPs), and feasibility studies
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Hydrologic analysis such as Rational Method calculations
Hydraulic calculations and/or modeling, such as HEC‑RAS
Data analysis using Excel or other software
Computer aided drafting and design (CADD) software (i.e., Autodesk and/or MicroStation)
Spatial analysis (i.e., GIS), data analysis using statistical programs, and database management
Technical writing / technical document preparation
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work as an individual and as part of team with a focus on project success
Education and Licensure
BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field. Completed coursework in the following areas is desired: hydrology and technical writing. Completed coursework in the following areas is a plus for consideration: hydraulics, water quality, GIS, AutoCAD (or MicroStation), and surveying. Four years of relevant work experience can be used to supplement the education requirement
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel
Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification (preferred)
