Position Summary: The Automotive Service Writer is the first point of contact for customers. They greet customers in person and on the phone, listen to their concerns, and identify service needs. Responsibilities include preparing repair orders, helping with cost estimates, ordering parts, and keeping accurate records. They also maintain strong customer relationships and ensure invoices are properly coded and recordedall while managing the front desk. Responsibilities: Write repair / work orders once they come in Answers telephone and schedules appointments Maintain customer records and ensure proper invoice coding and documentation Schedule work orders and maintain calendars Coordinate with technicians to ensure timely and accurate repairs Exercises excellent customer service skills while greeting customers and assisting them accordingly Maintains a professional appearance and timely attendance Ability to resolve challenging customer situations calmly and professionally Maintain adherence to UQC's credit policy Performs all other duties as assigned Requirements: Proficiency with computer systems and repair order software Strong knowledge of automotive systems and terminology Strong verbal and written communication Detail-oriented and accurate documentation Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once Ability to work in a team environment and work independently Qualifications: High School Diploma, or equivalent Previous experience in automotive service writing or customer service is preferred, but not required Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or counter. Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and handling documents. Occasional walking to service bays and parts areas. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs (e.g., small parts or paperwork). Clear vision for reading repair orders and computer screens. Hearing ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Routine office procedures Environmental Requirements Work primarily in an office/front desk setting within an automotive shop. Exposure to moderate noise levels from service bays and equipment. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when inspecting vehicles.
