COMPENSATION: $125.00 per day for the first ten (10) days, and $150.00 per day for each day thereafter.

Qualifications

  • A valid/registered Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary Education (Self‑Contained General Education) endorsement.
  • Recent teaching experience at the elementary level (with the exception of new graduates).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods, and current teaching techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, team members, and others.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Teacher leads students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating district curriculum goals and objectives into learning experiences that contribute to the development of skills necessary for becoming a mature and responsible individual.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Establish a learning environment that functions effectively.
  • Demonstrate effective instruction by engaging students in their learning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high ethical and professional standards and seek to improve professional practice.
  • Plan and prepare lessons that reflect high‑level learning and curriculum standards.
  • Apply knowledge of students’ backgrounds, strengths, needs, and interests to plan for groups of students.
  • Utilize resources available through the school or district to enhance own knowledge and teaching.
  • Design coherent instruction that aligns with outcomes and engages all students.
  • Develop assessments aligned with instruction and use results to plan future instruction.
  • Create an environment of respect, rapport, and high expectations for all students.
  • Effectively manage classroom procedures, student behavior, and physical space for safety and accessibility.
  • Communicate clearly with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate actively in the professional learning community and seek professional growth opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and instructional activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient teaching and learning.
