Overview
Reporting to and under the general direction of the Content Strategy Manager, the Social Media Strategist is responsible for developing and implementing Empeople Credit Union’s social media strategy, developing content and imagery for social media, and creating content for other channels, as needed, to boost social engagement.
The Social Media Strategist is a critical role for Empeople Credit Union. Key accountabilities include building audiences across Empeople socials and driving increased awareness and engagement across all social channels, specifically with our target audiences. The incumbent will also be responsible for identifying what channels work best for engaging with our target audiences and focusing efforts on those channels; A/B testing imagery and messaging, then pivoting based on results; and staying up-to-date on social media best practices and industry happenings.
A successful incumbent will have experience growing and managing social media platforms, and will be excited about social media as an avenue for marketing and engagement. They will also be highly collaborative, proactive in moving their strategies forward, and comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent will also have experience creating video and images for social media platforms.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable traveling to our Iowa, Illinois, Maine, and Wisconsin markets for key events, and will be available to work weekends when key events require it (approx. 5 times annually).

Social Media
- Develop and execute social media strategy; develop content and calendar for social media platforms in collaboration with marketing agency, including written, video, and imagery optimized for socials
- In collaboration with CMO and Content strategy manager, set KPIs and measure success of strategy; share out results regularly and adjust content based on performance
- Regularly review competitive landscape to assess what competitors are posting on socials; share learnings with team and suggest enhancements to social strategy as needed
- In collaboration with CMO, work with agency to develop paid social media strategy that supports goals of boosting awareness and engagement with target audience
- Act as the product owner of Sprout Social, our social media management platform, and work closely with account manager to ensure we are using the tool effectively
- Embed value proposition into messaging on social media
- Work with key stakeholders – members, financial guidance experts, sales, executive and senior leadership teams, external partners – to create video and other types of content
- Develop and maintain brand ambassador program to boost employee engagement with social media
Content
- Create calendar and content for blog, website, and YouTube that supports social media strategy
- Work with Partnership Marketing Manager to develop thought leadership strategy
- Own member newsletter and use newsletter to boost social engagement
- Own branch monitor slide calendar and work with agency on creative
- Post messages and ads in digital banking, as needed
- As needed, create email, press release and landing page content
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelors in marketing, communications, or similar, or commiserate professional experience
- 5-7 years in social media and content marketing
- Proven track record of social channel growth
- Experience with social media management platforms, photo and video editing software, and agency relationship management
- Background in social media for financial services or other regulated industry is a plus but not required.

Pay Range
USD $64,000.00 - USD $96,100.00 /Yr.
