Divine Mercy Parish is a recently merged Catholic parish serving churches in Madison, Verona and Paoli, Wisconsin. Six Masses for Sunday, with total weekend attendance of 1500.
The Director of Sacred Music gives witness to the Faith by conduct of life and by working in a spirit of unity and collaboration with the parish priests and lay staff. Attends staff meetings bi-weekly.
The Director manages a unified musical program of liturgical music for all three churches. Serves as principal organist and choir director at the Madison church, accompanies two school Masses weekly during term, and does limited work with older students on liturgical music. The Director has first right of refusal for all weddings and funerals in the parish (separately compensated).
Primary responsibilities consist of recruiting and managing other musicians including: organists for Sunday Masses as needed, compensated section leaders for the choir in Madison, a part‑time choir director / organist in Verona, cantors, instrumentalists for special occasions, and volunteer choir members. There is not currently a children’s or youth choir at the parish, but the Director would be encouraged to develop one.
All churches have the St. Michael Hymnal. All music is accompanied by keyboard. There is a large, digital organ currently in Madison and small pipe organs at the other churches. Antiphons are used, in addition to hymns. Latin used commonly but not predominantly.
The Director prepares worship aids for Sundays, holy days, school Masses, weddings and funerals as required. The Director further prepares an annual budget for music, maintains the music libraries at each church, and oversees the maintenance of the organs and their tuning.
Prior experience in a similar position required; academic qualifications preferred. Full-time position with benefits. Annual salary $65,000‑75,000.
Applications accepted to Monsignor Kevin Holmes until October 31st. Mid‑November start preferred.
