Free People is recruiting an Assistant Visual Manager for its new location in Annapolis, MD. This role supports the selling, service, and operations of the store with an emphasis on merchandising and display, creating a dynamic visual experience that reflects fitness, wellness, and happiness.

Role Summary

The Assistant Visual Manager works with the Store Manager to deliver a compelling in‑store environment, manage visual initiatives, and achieve sales and customer‑experience goals.

Role Responsibilities

• Acts as a brand ambassador, reflecting company values and partnering with leadership to create an engaging visual experience appealing to FP Movement customers.
• Involves the team in selling and visual initiatives, encouraging lasting customer relationships through personalized service and product recommendations aligned with wellness and fitness interests.
• Takes a forward‑thinking approach to customer experience via in‑store marketing, merchandising, display, and outfitting, creating a compelling store environment.
• Supports the Store Manager in developing consistent event programming reflective of local customer interests, including execution of events with fitness and wellness partners.
• Delivers a seamless omni‑channel shopping and event experience through understanding and utilization of MPOS, POS, and the FP App.
• Trains the team on store processes, merchandise placement, and standards; guides them to prioritize customer service and styling recommendations to drive metrics and store goals; provides timely, specific feedback to build a culture of action and accountability.
• Acts as manager‑on‑duty, driving engagement in each zone through communication, adaptability, and fostering a collaborative selling environment; exhibits strong decision‑making and multi‑tasking capabilities.
• Supports the Store Manager in recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent, facilitating thoughtful onboarding for new hires to strengthen brand, customer, and store connection.
• Maintains daily operating standards, assesses sales forecasting, supports scheduling and payroll, and ensures effective daily zone charts.
• Uses company tools to analyze business opportunities in product placement, outfitting, and stock levels, connecting with local community to identify fitness partnerships and events that drive brand community and store sales.
• Collaborates with partners to execute shipment processing, restocking, and product placement while maintaining FP Movement’s visual and display standards; ensures omni‑channel orders are processed timely and accurately.
• Adheres to store safety standards, inventory accuracy, product‑loss reduction, and all company policies to support store profitability.
• Leads with an inclusive, people‑first philosophy, encouraging open dialogue, reinforcing follow‑through, and ensuring the store team feels heard and supported.
• Keeps team current with interoffice communication, ensuring important company information reaches all levels; facilitates daily meetings covering event programming, product knowledge, visual priorities, and brand messaging.
• Provides global insights on customer experience, product presentation, and events, and shares feedback with the Store Manager.
• Promotes a culture of development by protecting time with direct reports, proactively setting goals, and providing feedback to support team growth.

Role Qualifications

• 1+ years of store visual merchandising and leadership experience.
• Passion for FP Movement and/or connection to the local fitness community.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

USD $22.00 – $23.00 per hour.
