We have an open position for a Web Developer to support web application projects for the State of Virginia. The role involves working through the full lifecycle of system delivery, focusing on the design, development, and deployment of high‑quality applications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Business System Analysts, IT teams, and testing staff to ensure the successful implementation of system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy web applications.
• Implement new features and enhancements.
• Conduct unit testing to ensure code quality.
• Review and contribute to technical designs.
• Ensure applications meet all functional specifications and performance requirements.

Scope of Work

The scope of work includes supporting Virginia Tax’s mix of modern and legacy web application systems. Responsibilities include modifying, enhancing, and maintaining existing applications while managing transitions or integration with new systems. The role requires using Angular for front‑end changes, REST API (Java/Spring Boot) for back‑end integration, and robust unit testing. Collaboration with Business System Analysts and QA teams is essential to deliver stable, secure, high‑quality updates.

Required / Desired Skills

• Angular or React expertise – 5+ years in designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications.
• API development – experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, or equivalent Java/Spring Boot experience – 5+ years.
• Database proficiency – SQL development, complex queries, basic optimization – 5+ years.
• Full development lifecycle – strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, and Scrum – 5+ years.
• Version control – proficiency with Git, branching, merging, pull requests – 5+ years.
• Problem‑solving – analytical and debugging skills across the stack – 5+ years.
• Prior tax or financial technology work experience – highly desired, 2+ years.
